How to Make a Brush in Psp8

Victorian Brush  Brushes are very easy to make and a great tool to have at your fingertips. Here are the steps to make a brush from any selection you have.

1) File > New. Create a new file 125 x 125. Resolution: 72px. Raster Layer. 24 bit. Transparent.

2) Add a new transparent layer. Layers > New Raster Layer > Ok.

3) Now click your materials pallette. If you do not see it, click F6 to bring it up or View > Palettes > Materials. Click the foreground color. Click Pattern and choose a pattern with some texture. I used one I made. Go to the Psp8 Tools Index and snag it from the Patterns category if you want.

4) Flood fill your square. Click Flood Fill tool and fill with foreground pattern.

5) Click the Selection Tool or click S to make it active. Set tool options. Choose Selection Type: Ellipse, Mode: Add, Feather: 15, Anti-alias: Checked. Click in the center of the square and draw a small ellipse out. If you don't like it the first time, click undo and try again.

6) Click the Paint Brush Tool or click B to make it active. Click the square next to Presets that has all the brush types indexed. Then click Create Brush Tip button (the second button down on the right side of that screen). It makes the selection a brush. Give your brush a name and save. That's it. You now have a brush out of that selection.

7) To use it, just select a foreground or background color and click B for the brush tool, choose your brush and begin painting. To paint with the original pattern. Go download the pattern from the index and instead of choosing a foreground color, choose the pattern.

8) To publish a brush on the web, just upload as is with the .PspBrush extension and link to it.
